Have you ever picked up one of those free H&M magazines? Well guess what? I do every time because (1) they are free, and (2) they have very good suggestions, articles, and photo-shoots.
This issue has a great article about the four looks for the summer.
They have the Sailor look, the Romantic Hippie, the Jet-Set, and the Neon Wave aka 80s Disasters.
Here is what I think of these 4 looks:
The Sailor - absolutely love it! Love especially the navy blue stripes over the white. For women it's extra special If it has a boat neckline. And for men v-necks, shorts and lots of horizontal stripes. Navy blue and white are HOT!
Romantic Hippie - I find it really funny because I feel that every single spring stores try to bring this look back. Clearly, they still haven't achieved what they were looking for. Some years they call it Bohemian, and some years they call it exotic, but at the end it's always the same thing. Personally I don't mind the look. It's clear that this year they are trying to push it with the big help of Sex and the City 2 and Prince of Persia. Has it worked? Mmmeeehhh..... I think that the Sailor look won this time around. Better luck next year Romantic Hippie.
Jet-Set - this look is soooo classy and chic. If you can pull it off please do it 24/7. Yes, you do need to have a certain kind of personality and body to pull this look off so if you have it please do me a favour and ravish the world with good taste!
Neon Wave - I love how they call it a "wave". Is it really a wave? it's more of a long lasting tide. This horrifically tacky 80s look needs to go before it turns into massive shoulders and humongous hair again. Once was "good" enough. I say 80s is out and 60s is IN.... so 80s if you can do me a favour and leave quietly if you can.
My final verdict is: gold medal goes to Sailor, silver to Jet-Set, bronze to Romantic Hippie, and nothing to Neon Wave because enough is enough. =)

This was informative and delightful to read :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the Neon Wave. I'm finished with the 80's, except I do like bright nail polish. My nails are happily hot pink today.
