HELLO Joe!

Here's the new Gay on the block. Joe McElderry is the winner of the past X-Factor. He already came out and is EXTREMELY GOOD LOOKING! OK... yes... he is a bit young at only 19 but he sure is great to look at.
This is his first video for the song Ambitions. The song is a fantastic creation by Donkey Boy which he decided to do a cover for, like all X-factor singers usually do. Well..... I know Will Young did.  =)
I must say that I quite like the faster beat of the song. It's fun and makes me wanna dance even more than the original. His voice is quite sweet too. The video on the other hand... I'm confused as to how I should feel with this Glee meets West Side Story video.
One thing is for sure. Joe looks gooooooooood!
Enjoy

Now THAT'S baaaaaaad!

OMG! can someone tell me that this isn't THE worst slip ever?!
I'll I'm gonna say is: Australia's Next Model, wrong winner, crushed dreams.
Watch and feel like shit for the poor girl.

Marina Oh NO!

You know those songs that are totally addictive? Well I find that marian & the Diamonds keeps on making songs that are just that. Totally fricken addictive songs!
Here's her video to Oh No!
Sweet song and awesome 60s vibe. Just what i'm in the mood for.

Caravan Palace!

It's now clear to me that I'm completely in LOVE with Electro Swing music. It's fantastic and super energetic. I could dance to this for days. Here's a band worth knowing: Caravan Palace. Their rhythm is hypnotic. Brings the swing feel just like Parov Stelar does but brings it to the next level. Here is their song Jolie Coquine.
Ready to dance??
Swing it up!

Ps. I think the band name is absolutely amazing.

Parov Stelar! Swing it!

I've been a bit stuck lately, because I feel that nothing could satisfy my need for new and fun music until I came across Parov Stelar. I dID find that I've been craving some oldies remixes which I love so much and Parov hit the spot! His music is so excellently mixed with old 20s-40s sounds and modern rhythms. Props to this guy. I'm totally feeling his vibe and I can't stop swinging to his beat.
Here's a video I found on youtube with his song Libella Swing. The video is questionable but The song is GREAT!

Imma BITCH now!

This is now my second week back to school and I'm PISSED with the affordable fashion world.
Yes I'm talking to you H&M and Forever XXI. Two very different reasons. One is complete lack of style in their designs and the other is lack of clothes all together. I'm gonna start with Forever XXI.

Last week, my friend Deanna and I, went for a healthy back to school shopping spree. First we decided to hit up Forever XXI on Yonge and Dundas in Toronto. Forever XXI is known for its totally affordable clothes and mix and match of styles. What I always loved about Forever XXi is that they had daily sales which meant you pretty much stole clothes. So I got good designs for nothing. Of course that made me happy.
So we walked in and I ran towards the guys' section and found that it wasn't there anymore. I thought "hmm.... that's weird... they must have moved it back up on the second floor." Deanna and I ran up to check. We looked in every flipping corner of the store and guess what? NO GUYS CLOTHES TO BE FOUND! I was in complete disbelief, so I went and asked one of the girls that works there who told me that the closest store is somewhere I don't even know how to get to. I was PISSED!! I have been super bitter for the past two weeks.
If that wasn't enough, today I decided go to check in the Newmarket location at Upper Canada Mall. F%$K ME! there was NOTHING there either. I'm sooooooo fed up with women-only stores. Because really?! Last i checked about 90% of all stores are for women ONLY!
This clearly made me incredibly angry and I'm still fuming. Let's move on to H&M....

So thank God H&M miraculously decided to keep their male section. Isn't that nice of them to give a crap about us men? great....
I walked into H&M convinced to walk out with at least 2-3 things. Oh! But did you know that H&M decided that it would be best for this season to design shit clothes for men?! Yeah it must be this season's new motto. "Shit only, at shit prices! Nothing that requires any actual design talent." To recap, if you would like checkered shirts of any colour imaginable, they have them! If you would like white shirts with blue horizontal stripes, they have them too! AND THAT'S IT! Therefore if you already own a few of these, don't bother wasting your time going into this store to check more ill designed garments.

I'm angry and feel COMPLETELY let down by this season's stupid fashion world.... I guess I have more money for Sushi now.... fat-ass here I come!

Never Forget you

I'm SO happy! the Noisettes finally decided to do a video for this AMAZING song! The song's title is Never Forget you and it has been on repeat on my iPhone for the past 3 months. I love it's 50s vibe.
The video is great too. I love the theatre and the strings and all. Is her hair indescribable or what?... I can't stop staring at it.

Some people keep on getting more beautiful

Look at this clip of Anna Wintour with Mark Jacobs on Jimmy Fallon.
Anna looks amazing, Mark looks super sexy with his kilt. Is it me or do these 2 keep on getting better and better looking as they're getting older?
... incredible...

ps. did you know that LadyG can communicate with God?! damn! she IS talented!!

Even stores are lying about how fat you are!

I just found out this very depressing chart that compares pant waist size with the actual waist size.
Is this depressing or what? I feel better knowing that I shop at H&M therefore my wait is not so far off from the pant size. I have to say that after doing lots of measurements for other people, there really is a major difference between pant size and waist size. I should also mention that what some people think is their waist is in fact something that we (in the costuming world) call "modern waist", which is a completely different measurement than the "classic waist". Classic waist is about at the height of the bellybutton, while the modern waist sits around the hips area. If you look down at your own pants you'll notice that your pants are sitting right on your hips and not your waist at all.
Enjoy this chart.... and try not to cry too much ;-)

I could be a maid....

wow.... sooo... yeah ... Ronaldo... looks quite AMAZING in this video... can't say much else..... I'm gonna replay this again... over and over....... and over....

Get outta Kylie's way

Has anyone seen the new Kylie Minogue video for "Get Outta my way"? I should say that I fell in love with this song since the CD first came out and I'm glad that she decided to use it as her second single. It's a fun song with a great beat. The video clearly isn't one of those videos where the lyrics of the song are interpreted but it simply is all dancing and effects. Nothing new there, that seems a regular theme for Ms. Minogue. Obviously the dancing is great but the effects.... she might have gone a little projection crazy for this one. Don't you think this is one of those video that we'll look back in 5 years and think "what a mess!"
oh well... fun song none the less

'Sup, Autumn?

It's hard to believe that the summer is coming to a close.  Well, psychologically, at least.  With the dawn of September upon us, it's time to gear up for some good food, friends, and fun.

Ontario is harvesting some of it's best fruits and vegetables to yield in years and it's all thanks to the gorgeous weather we've had.  Sun-blushed tomatoes, refreshing cucumbers, and sugary sweet corn contend against golden peaches, indigo concord grapes, and my personal favourite, honey crisp apples.  Paired with the perfect cheese, bread, preserves and honey, nuts, and wine, the autumn tabletop becomes a culinary work of art.

What better time of the year to enjoy some fine dark beers and heavy fare?  It's exciting to think of splitting a pitcher of a good amber or stout over a veggie-loaded homemade pizza.  Finish it off with warm peach cobbler, a swig of Rickard's Red, and call it meal!

While I'm sad to see summer go, I open my arms wide to autumn and his bounty.  Food, in my opinion, is the best way to nourish the soul, so forks up!  In the famous words of our friend Heather of Nova Scotia, "SOCIABLE!"

Joe Calderone ...who?

What does everyone think of Lady Gaga's Joe Calderone? Yes... that IS Lady Gaga's Sicilian alter-ego. As in, it's Lady Gaga dressed like a man. Why is she coming up with this now all of a sudden. Knowing her, she doesn't really ever do anything unless she has a plan for it. I'm sure we'll be seeing Joe Calderone popping up in one of her next videos.
One parting thought: is it a good idea for her to make herself look so much like a man when people say she IS a man...?

it's not a Shame at all

This video is exactly why we all love Robbie Williams so much. If there's one thing that he is good at, is his hot, and provocative videos. And what's hotter and more provocative than a sexy secret gay love affair?
... nothing else comes to mind....

Sexy Ricky

I'm not one to read biographies but this one I might actually read. Ricky Martin is coming out with his biographical book. I'm not too sure when exactly it is coming out but I believe it is gonna be soon enough. I wonder if he's gonna write about all of his coming out struggles? THAT would be exiting!

Josh Rouse's El Turista

One thing I haven't mentioned about Eat Pray Love is that it also has a really good soundtrack. One of the songs I was really impressed with was Flight Attendant by Josh Rouse. So I decided to look it up more in detail and I downloaded Josh Rouse's new CD called El Turista. Guess what? It's really really good relaxing music. It has a Brazilian feel to it, and it is totally classy and rhythmic.
Unfortunately I couldn't find any new videos by Josh, so I'm gonna put up this video of his song Quiet Town which is really good too!

Enjoy

Literally Black Swan!

Soo..... have you seen Natalie Portman's new movie's trailer? The movie is called Black Swan and from what the trailer shows us, the title might be more literal than one would think. Black feathers and red eyes? yeeaaahhh. I was really exited about this movie because I thought it would have been a romance or real life story kind of movie buuuut.... it's clearly not. Supernatural stuff happening in this one too. I feel a little let down but I think I might want to go see it anyways, just because it's about ballet.
Also, why is it that every semi-horror movie has to have a "drowning in the bathtub" scene? getting old? I think so... Anyways here it is.

Ma-Ma-Ma-Mariah!

I was just reading on Instinct.com that apparently Mariah Carey is coming out with a new Christmas CD. YEY! OK so I loved Mariah since I was little.... well let's say I loved Mariah WHEN I was little. Now, I enjoy her music but I'm certainly not obsessed with her. But her Christmas CD is one of, if not THE best Christmas album ever! Apparently she claims she will be able to come out with six new original Christmas songs. That is quite exiting, because she is one of the only few people that can make original Christmas songs and have them become part of popular culture.

By the way, how do we feel about her latest video for "Up Out My Face" featuring Nicky Minaj? wait.... what does 'up out my face' mean...??
I think it's official, Mariah still thinks she's 25.

Emma Watson beautiful outside and in!

I love Emma Watson. She a completely adorable girl who has fantastic style. What's there not to like? Look at her awesome new pixie haircut. She can truly pull anything off. Because of her fantastic style, I just found out that she actually has her own clothing line. Her line is part of a clothing company called People Tree. The company is all about helping third world countries. Therefore whenever they sell some of their items, they donate a lot of money to the people who helped them make the clothes in third world countries. This means they are not under paid and robbed of their talents. Instead they help them build homes and make buildings for the towns the workers are in. I think this is a fantastic idea, and the clothes are quite good too! Have a look. This is part of Emma's collection. She creates for both guys and girls.

Eat Pray Love Review

I just got home from watching Eat Pray Love and I absolutely loved it! The movie had just the right amount of everything: love, discovery, and beauty. I was expecting this movie to be good but I didn't think it would have been this inspiring and entertaining. The movie dedicated the perfect amount of time in every location the heroine Liz (Julia Roberts) ended up and just as you were about to think "I'm ready to move on" it would move right on. It's useless to say that Julia did a great job, and all the supporting actors fit in perfectly. The scenery didn't beat around the bushes. They showed beauty where there was beauty, but at the same time they didn't beautify places just to make them "movie worthy."

This movie was as delicious as a good plate of pappardelle with cream and mushrooms, as inspiring as a beautiful sunrise, and as adorable as a new love....... why am I so fricken cheesy???

Battle of the shoes

Here is my daily dilemma: Zara shoes VS Aldo shoes.
Here is my issue. I have owned both Zara shoes and Aldo shoes but there is a substantial difference between the two.
I think Zara has an impressive line of shoes. I am seriously in awe when I go in their stores staring at their stunning shoes. Just like their amazing clothes, I do not know what to pick because they are all so hot. The cons of these beautiful shoes is that I have now gone through 2 pairs of Zara shoes in 3 months. When I say "gone through" I mean I can't use them anymore otherwise I will either get tetanus from a nail going in them, or I will get wet feet daily because of the bad condition their are in. Therefore Zara sells stunning shoes that don't last at all. Good for the store, bad for the customers.

Aldo, on the other hand, is the exact opposite. I'm hardly wowed by a pair of Aldo shoes. When I go in their stores I might pick a maximum of 1 pair of shoes that I actually like, but I usually leave with nothing in my hands. The thing about Aldo shoes is that they will last you forever! The ones that I have, I had to put away not because they were broken but because I got tired of looking at them.

Conclusively, what is better? a beautiful shoe that will not last more than a month, or an ugly shoe that will last forever...? Now that I put it that way, it kind of looks like a loose loose situation.

Oh well... just something else to think about before I fall asleep tonight.... and I thought that the flooding in Pakistan and China was bad enough....

Bloody Hot!

WOW! I just saw this cover for the September issue of Rolling Stone magazine. I'm kinda blown away!!
Anna Paquin and her boy Stephen Moyer look like they are trying to take a romantic pic together (something Heidi Klum would hang on top of her bed). And then Alexander Skarsgard looks like the super hot third wheel. I sure wouldn't complain about having him as a third wheel!  ;-)

H&M fall ... over of boredom ...

Today I was at H&m for some end of season shopping. While I was scouting the sale section I also looked at the new fall collection. Truthfully, I'm NOT happy! No, no, no I didn't find anything exiting and new. I was not impressed at all. Yes, there's a lot of checkered shirts, horizontal stripes, and emphasis on pants that are not denim. This is all good, but where are the different designs? The fun shapes? The memorable pieces that one wants to wear to make others say "WOW!" it doesn't really happen that H&M let's me down but this fall doesn't look exiting at all. H&M gods can you please do something about this? If I'm going to spend money to pay for things at full price then they better be good. Because I'm not willing to spend lots for such generic things. Things that on the other hand, I already have a closet full.

Oh! The one good thing is that they have super hot model Jon Kortajarena from A Single Man, modelling their (boring ass) fall collection. Is it a trick to get your mind away from the clothes and stare at his beauty?
I think so!

Any Which Way

Here is the brand new Scissor Sisters video for "Any Which Way"!
There definitely is more nakedness than necessary, but who is complaining?! It kind of looks a bit like a Pride video of some sort... all the colours and stuff. It sure is fun, even though I don't know think it has much to do with the lyrics.
Anyways, I think we can all agree on one thing: Jake is looking gooooooooooood lately!

It's gonna rain cats and dogs....

Dear Weather Network,
Why is it exactly that you can't do your job at all anymore? I find it extremely entertaining to watch all of you on the channel get exited about thunderstorms we are supposed to get the next day or that very afternoon, when in reality NOTHING ever happens. I am certainly not complaining about the beautiful weather we have been getting, but according to you we should have gotten torrential downpours every single afternoon for the past 2 months and truthfully, I'm still waiting for it.
I don't even bother watching the long-term forecast because you guess it just as well as Miss Cleo could. But I'm in awe as to how badly you can predict the weather pattern that is supposed to happen within the next few hours.
I'm very disappointed with you. I know predicting the weather is hard and I know nothing about it. But if everyone fucked their job up as much as you do then we would be living in a shit hole of a country. Imagine bus drivers being as "effective" as you are, or bankers functioning as well as you do. Never mind high profile jobs. Think of prostitutes! Promising a full night of fun for 20 dollars when in fact when you bring them home you discover they wear granny underparts, haven't shaved in 4 months, have a couple of STDs and are in fact of the opposite sex of what they seemed. How would you feel?

Wouldn't you be left wondering: why the fuck did I cancel my plans for that storm?!

Still waiting for that big summer downpour you keep on promising,
Diego

Holli beat Hell!

This is EXITING!! For any of you Hell's Kitchen watchers: HOLLI WON!!! Ty and I were screaming with excitement when her door opened.
It hardly ever happens that the person that I like from the start ends up being the winner of a show. If I remember correctly it only ever happened once with Caridee from America's Next Top Model and that was satisfying enough.
I'm soooooo happy that Holli won because she is fun, flirtation, extremely talented, and beautiful! Even though her odd attraction to Jay is something I can't really explain but he sure was a fierce contender. As far as the others go: I loved Autumn from the beginning too, and finally who the hell could stand Ben anymore?? Holli was the clear choice. She won more competitions than others and had never been on the chopping block. She deserves to be the winner!

I say congratulations to Holli!
I'm sure she'll have an amazing future in London!

Life without Jessi is like Brangelina without babies =(

I need to make an extremely sad post about the departure from our beautiful city of the AMAZING Jessi Cruickshank. I'm not lying when I say that I almost started crying when I heard that Jesse will be leaving Toronto and The After Show to go and pursue a career in LA.
For the ones of you that don't know her, she is one of the two hosts of MTV Canada's The After Show. She co-hosts this show with hottie McHottie Dan Levy. The two of them seriously made the show amazing! Considering Jessi's humour and Dan's good looks (and vice-versa, of course) The After Show had become one of my daily indulgences. As I understand it, the show will start again in the fall but without Jesse.

How will life be post Jesse? I'm exited to see Dan again but I will miss Jessi TERRIBLY.

Here is one of jesse's most famous interviews:

Let's hope they don't f*** it up!

My friends Monique, Marianne and I have started watching the British show Skins, starting from season 1. We all love the show are enjoying all the fun characters and the many differences between them. What I would like to discuss in this post is my frustration with the American movie/shows industry. Why is it that they always need to recreate already good shows and movies?? Let's see: Skins, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Queer As Folk (even though the American one was really good), The Office, All in the Family, Big brother, X-Factor, Hell's Kitchen... and so many more! I simply don't get it... why mess with something that is ALREADY great! Do Americans perhaps not understand the language? Because last I checked Americans and Brits spoke the exactly same fricken language. I don't know.... Marianne, Monique and I have had this conversation and we truly hope they are not going to go and fuck up this fantastic show.
