Tresemme Dry Shampoo - Product Review

For about a year and a half now I've really been trying to help save my hair. The ends are so crispy and I really didn't know what to do. I've tried pretty much everything (including going 'natural' and just doing a baking soda rinse on my hair and no blow dry :-S), but nothing has really worked. Mostly, what I've found over this period is that it is SO much more convenient not to have to shampoo and blowdry everyday.

Needless to say, if I want to not smell like a farm animal, something needs to be done with my hair in those off days. Dry shampoo seemed like the best option for me since I have oily hair and I cannot pull off the 'matted-down-to-my-head' look. For the most part I've found that powders are the best (baby power without talc, or the All-Nighter - a review for that will come soon), but my mother keeps telling me my lungs are getting killed and that I will die one day from it if I don't stop.

I've tried other spray dry shampoos and nothing has really worked for me well enough for me to buy again. I find that they leave white streaks in my hair that stay even after a re-blowdry and the bottles don't last longer than a week for me. Anyways, I saw an ad for Tresemme's new line, not only are they selling a spray, but also a gel formula for curly hair. I decided to buy both because 1) they are only $6 and 2) I wear my hair bother ways.

I first tried the spray shampoo for straight hair. Firstly, most spray dry shampoos reek like hell, this one was slightly not as bad. After the first spray to my roots I found that the white residue wasn't immediate but definitely developed after the spray dried a little bit (and it does wet your hair pretty well in the process). I tried to comb out the whiteness but it didn't work so well, so I tried to re-blowdry. The whiteness stayed, so I rubbed it out with a towel and it was slightly better but not really. I also found there was a weird residue in my hair afterward. Not quite sticky, but I'm not really sure of how else to describe it. Anyways, maybe you will have better luck, but the spray didn't leave me with the results I wanted. I found I had to put some All-Nighter powder in it to fix it a little.

A few nights later, when I had my hair wavy, I decided to try the gel formula for curly hair. The gel when put onto the hair makes it REALLY wet. Not sure if I was doing it correctly, but at the same time I couldn't think of any other way to put it on than to massage the gel into my roots. I initially thought that maybe it was supposed to be wet so that curls would have moisture to re-bounce themselves but no... I diffused my hair for a minute so that my hair would be dry and then went to work. During the day I kinda felt gross - my hair looked and felt oilier than it had been to begin with. The only explanation I could give for this fact is that my hair is wavy, but most people with curly hair tend to have drier scalps that don't need to be washed frequently. Since my hair is oily, maybe the formula just wasn't right for my body chemistry.

All in all, I really wasn't pleased with the products. However, if you are looking for a dry shampoo to try and don't want to go the baby powder route, then maybe give these a shot. I wouldn't be against the suggestion only because they are only $6 and some people have different reactions.
