The Pride Uniform
The past weekend Ty, friends, and I attended the large Toronto Pride Parade that passed right in front of our building. As we left the house in the morning to go grocery shopping, we started noticing similarities with the Pride attire worn by the gays in the streets. And as a result ... I was disappointed.
Why is it that EVERY single year when it come to Pride week most gay guys in the city of Toronto decide: "Yes this year (just like the past 5) I'm gonna wear a tank top AND a cowboy hat!" ..... WHY? I would LOVE to know the reason why they keep on dressing the same every year? I totally understand why it was the case in 2005, when there was the big Brokeback Mountain phase, and the cowboy look was going quite strong. But this year? along with the past 4... what do they have to do with cowboys?? It's becoming a bit frustrating. Why do gay guys feel like they NEED to wear this Pride Uniform every year?
Let's recap the big looks for this summer: the Sailor look, the 50s-70s look, the "Denim look", and if we REALLY have to go there, the left over 80s-look from last year. Did anyone see the "cowboy look" in that list? ...didn't think so...
... for being the best at dressing gays, let's step it up a notch next year.... pleeeeeeeaaaase!
