Congratulations Spain!

And it's over... the World Cup is done and I don't know how I feel about it. I love sporting events, especially ones that take place on the world stage because it completely takes over every part of life for about a month and everyone gets so into it. But this year was different, without a team to cheer for wholeheartedly - for more than a week that is - it just doesn't feel the same.

Yesterday I didn't really care which team won. Really, after Italy was eliminated I just really didn't want Brazil or Portugal to go all the way. So when Spain scored the only goal, about 5 minutes until they would have went to penalty kicks, I was happy - but I was really looking forward to penalties. I know anyone who plays the game hates penalties, but the drama, the suspense and the jubilation is so much more fun! Tell me you honestly don't cry watching this video....

And now to make you cry some more, here's Fabio Cannavaro giving the World Cup back last night. He's all smiles, but I'm sure deep down he's sad. This was his last international tournament and he sucked...

So now it's done and all we can do is wait for Euro 2012 in Poland/Ukraine and World Cup 2014 in Brazil. But until then please enjoy the hotness that is the Spanish team - minus the dude with the funky hair in the middle.

Sexy Sergio Ramos promised to cut his hair if Spain won... we'll see!

Also please notice the difference in celebrations between Italy and Spain. Italy chose to shed body hair on the plane home (sorry I can't embed the video) - whereas Spain took the crazy drunk route, singing and dancing (hot hot hot!):

Also, in case you are one of the 4 people in the world not to have seen this video of Iker Casillas snogging his girlfriend during a post-game interview, check it out. It's cute. I used to not like her, but i appreciate how she didn't seem all cocky after the kiss. It's actually very cute.

General translation:
Iker: “I dedicate this to the people that has supported me always,my parents, my brother”
Sara: “It’s okay. We’ll talk more on the match”
Iker: “No”
Sara: “no?”
Iker: “I rather kiss you”
Iker: “I’m off”
Sara: “dear me”
Sara: “…well then…we’ll continue later o.k.”

Cute!
